General Mills cooks up 2,500 homemade meals to help fight food poverty in London

General Mills, the leading global food company, has reached its goal of delivering 2,500 homemade meals for those who need it most in London, in partnership with the Thomas Franks Foundation.

Continuing to play a role in the local community, General Mills and the Thomas Franks Foundation have made use of the food company’s Uxbridge-based catering facilities whilst most staff have been working from home during April. The kitchens were transformed into a meal-prepping station that has dispatched over 2,500 meals to those in need.

This initiative has run as an extension of General Mills’ Breakfast Club Network, a nationwide scheme through which General Mills funds free breakfast for 5,000 schoolchildren in the UK. It has also been a joint effort with Rise 365, a charity that works towards empowering and aspiring young people, who have been distributing the meals.

Ben Pearman, VP Managing Director of Northern Europe at General Mills, said: “We are thrilled to extend the work that we do with our Breakfast Club Network and reach new communities through our partnership with Thomas Franks Foundation and with the help of Rise 365.

“As a global food company, helping in the fight against food poverty is at the heart of our core values. We were delighted to put our kitchens to good use whilst staff are working from home, especially for a cause so close to our hearts.

“We are incredibly proud to have reached our goal of preparing 2,500 meals.”
