Cadbury Mini Eggs go green

Amcor has partnered with Mondelēz International to bring certified recycled plastic to the Cadbury Mini Eggs range for Easter 2026, marking a major step in sustainable packaging. As part of its ‘Pack Light and Right”’ strategy, Mondelēz is designing 98% of its packaging for recyclability and aims to cut at least 25% of virgin plastic in rigid packaging by 2030.

The 31.9g, 74g, and 256g Mini Eggs bags will now use 65% certified recycled plastic via Amcor’s AmFiniti™ Recycled Content, scaling the use of recycled materials across one of the UK’s most recognisable seasonal treats. This represents around 100 tonnes of post-consumer recycled plastic annually—roughly 70 million bags. Small and large Cadbury Easter tablets will also feature 80% recycled plastic packaging, around 16 million bars, while the Cadbury Special Gesture Shell Egg ribbon handle has been replaced with recyclable cardboard.

Joanna Dias, UK&I Sustainability Lead at Mondelēz International, said, “Our Cadbury Mini Eggs range is an iconic Easter treat, loved by people across the UK & Ireland, and this is an exciting moment to increase our use of recycled plastic packaging. Continuing our partnership with Amcor to grow our impact, our Cadbury Mini Eggs this Easter are another fantastic milestone for Mondelēz UK&I as we work towards the delivery of Mondelēz’s global sustainability goals, namely, reducing our use of virgin plastic.”

Janice Narainsamy, Senior Product Development Engineer at Amcor, added, “It’s fantastic to see our collaboration with Mondelēz International come to life with AmFiniti Recycled Content in iconic products like Cadbury Mini Eggs. Expanding recycled content into seasonal favourites demonstrates what’s possible when innovation and partnership align, integrating circular packaging solutions at scale while maintaining the quality consumers expect.”

Easter 2026 also introduces scannable QR codes on Mini Eggs packs, giving customers insight into recycled content and Mondelēz’s broader sustainability approach, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to greener, more responsible packaging.
