Chutney made from rescued produce available now

Fruit and vegetable subscription company Oddbox has partnered with artisan preserve maker Fruits of the Forage to launch a limited-edition range of chutneys made using surplus and foraged ingredients.

The collaboration has transformed more than 350kg of fruit and vegetables that were at risk of going to waste into four small-batch vegan products, extending the shelf life of produce that may otherwise have been discarded due to oversupply, cosmetic imperfections or fluctuating demand.

The range combines surplus British-grown ingredients, including carrots, cauliflower, tomatoes and rhubarb, with foraged produce sourced from neglected orchards and hedgerows. All products are blended in small batches in Cheshire using ingredients sourced from UK growers.

The launch reflects both companies’ commitment to reducing food waste and creating additional value from surplus produce. Oddbox works with growers across the UK to provide a market for crops that fall outside supermarket specifications, helping to reduce on-farm waste while generating an additional revenue stream for producers.

The new range includes Curried Carrot Chutney, made with rescued carrots and apples; Chilli Rhubarb Jam, featuring surplus British rhubarb and wild garlic; Tomato & Tamarind Chutney, created using rescued tomatoes; and Best of British Piccalilli, made from surplus cauliflower, carrots and pickled cucumber.

The products are available individually for £4.95 or as a bundle of four for £17.99 through the Oddbox online marketplace, which is open to both subscribers and non-subscribers. The range launched on 7 August and forms part of Oddbox’s wider mission to tackle food waste across the supply chain by finding alternative uses for surplus produce.
