Purition’s new instant porridge is the first publicly available F&B product utilising BIOVIT’s all-natural micronutrient blend – funded by the UK Government’s ‘Better Food For All’ programme.
Natural micronutrients start-up BIOVIT has delivered on its promise to shake up the fortified foods industry, announcing the UK’s first synthetic-free, naturally fortified meal replacement product to reach consumers this month – stamped with the BIOVIT mark of trust.
BIOVIT partnered with whole food nutrition brand Purition to enhance their new instant porridge range, Build & Restore, with its proprietary, first-of-its-kind natural micronutrient blend containing eight vitamins and minerals.
The BIOVIT-fortified porridge is the only meal replacement product on the market to be supplemented with natural vitamins and minerals extracted from organic plants, including curry leaf, moringa and ascophyllum seaweed extracts, instead of the commonly used and synthetically made additives derived from petrochemicals.
Designed to prevent and treat undernutrition for those experiencing loss of appetite, difficulty chewing or swallowing, recovery from surgery or illness, or simply needing additional nourishment, Purition’s protein-enriched porridge can be used as an alternative to standard oral nutritional supplements, at home, in a care setting or hospital.
The sachets fit effortlessly into daily life and are available in four comforting flavours – Classic Unflavoured, Banana & Cinnamon, Strawberry Jam, and Golden Syrup.
Edward Taylor, Founder of Purition Ltd, said: “At Purition, we’ve spent over 12 years championing whole food nutrition, always believing that real food contains nutritional wisdom that synthetic supplements simply cannot replicate. When I met the BIOVIT team at the Food & Drink Expo, it was a genuine eureka moment. For years, we’d been searching for a truly natural alternative to synthetic micronutrients that wouldn’t compromise our food-first philosophy.
“BIOVIT’s breakthrough in creating standardised, verifiable micronutrients from organic plant extracts finally made this possible. Their approach aligns perfectly with our nutritional values, and the clean taste profile of their organic extracts means we don’t have to mask flavours with artificial sweeteners or flavourings. With BIOVIT, we’ve found a partner who understands that the future of nutrition isn’t about isolating nutrients in a lab but rather harnessing the complete nutritional profile that nature has already perfected.”
Ky Wright, Founder and CEO of BIOVIT, said: “The significance of adding natural nutrients for a product designed to prevent malnutrition is huge – because the human body evolved to absorb nutrients from real foods, not isolated synthetic compounds added to fortified foods and drinks, from your everyday breakfast cereals to your protein shakes.”
A two-year research study conducted by BIOVIT in partnership with the University of Swansea is currently in progress, measuring the relative bioavailability and efficacy between natural vitamins and minerals and their synthetic counterparts – the results of which are expected to shake up the F&B industry once complete later this year.
Wright continued, “Supporting Purition on its mission to make nutrition easy, accessible, effective and delicious is a milestone moment for us after two years of extensive research and development. We couldn’t have hoped for a better brand to wear our BIOVIT stamp of trust – one that understands the value of natural fortification.”
Spearheading the ‘Natural Nutrient Revolution’ in fortified foods, BIOVIT is the world’s first company to develop clinically tested organic multi-nutrient blends for use in fortified foods, whilst guaranteeing clinical stability of its micronutrient composition – meaning declared nutrient levels are present after processing and at the end of a product’s shelf life.
At least two more BIOVIT-fortified products will be reaching UK consumers in the coming weeks, with BIOVIT already in live New Product Development (NPD) with over 10 of the UK’s largest organic and natural food brands.
