A team from Swizzels is asking stockists for support as it takes on the Tough Mudder challenge to raise money for charity partner, YoungMinds.
The 15-strong team from Swizzels will take on the notoriously gruelling Tough Mudder challenge on 9 September.
The nine-mile course will see them tackling 30 obstacles. As well as getting zapped with 10,000 volts of electricity, they will have to clamber through a pit of water with virtually no air to breathe, scale a 13ft high structure covered in grease and scramble through mud pits, all while being targeted with water cannons.
Last year, the Derbyshire-based sweet maker rebranded its iconic Love Hearts to Kind Hearts to help raise awareness of the charity. The rebrand came following the launch of an 18-month partnership between Swizzels and YoungMinds, the UK’s leading charity fighting for young people’s mental health.
“I speak for the team when I say, we’re absolutely petrified,” Claire Lee, Senior Brand Manager at Swizzels, said. “Most of us are not gym bunnies or runners so don’t know how we’re going to get on but we’re determined to finish the course.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure to have supported YoungMinds over the past 18 months. The charity does fantastic work. This is our final push to raise money, and we really hope the retail trade support us by donating via our JustGiving page – any donation will be appreciated, no matter how small.
“The money raised from the Tough Mud challenge will help provide young people with essential tools to look after their mental health and also empower adults to provide the best support they can to the young people in their lives.”
