Hackney Gelato’s new carefully crafted tub of lip-smacking temptation is all about delicate layering of flavour. A hint of cinnamon and clove from the expert allspice mix. A gentle kick from the cold pressed organic ginger juice and finally, a lightly caramelised biscuit crumble to add crunch to the smooth, creamy gelato.

Hackney Gelato’s nuovo recipe evokes nostalgic aromas from childhood, home-baking on cosy autumn days and chilly wintery nights.

“We wanted to capture the depth and warmth of this combination of ginger and spices but bring out the complexity in a creative, gentle way,” said Enrico Pavoncelli, co-founder and Master Gelatiere.  “We love the result – a creamy, warming gelato that is above all totally different and delizioso.”

Gingerbread gelato – a limited edition recipe, is now on Ocado.com RRP £5.49 per 460ml tub. Be quick, it’s only on sale until the end of the year.

Hackney Gelato has now received 40 Great Taste Stars, having just won 9 more stars at the 2022 Great Taste Awards. The Company supplies some of today’s most exciting restaurants, as well as shops and delis.

The brand’s founders Sam and Enrico, originally trained chefs, know that real flavour comes from using real ingredients.

The Chefs grew up in Italy and met at London’s Michelin starred Locanda Locatelli. After years of talking about bringing proper Italian gelato to the UK, they travelled back home to hone their craft with the master gelatieri of Sicily.

With a headful of knowledge and a suitcase full of Bronte pistachios, they returned to London and Hackney Gelato was born. They started making bespoke gelato recipes for the best chefs in London. The most popular ones made it into tubs to be sold in shops and delis across the land.

Hackney gelato is made with amore using traditional Italian slow churning techniques and proper ingredients. It is proudly served in Michelin Star restaurants but tastes equally good spooned straight from the tub in your pyjamas.
