The ‘larger-than-life’ Chocolate Frog, made by the original film prop maker Pierre Bohanna, has been spotted in Piccadilly Circus this morning, as new magical experiences are revealed ahead of the shop opening on 4 November
Something magical has ‘escaped’ onto the streets of London. With just one week to go until the new Harry Potter Shop Oxford Street opens its doors, a larger-than-life Chocolate Frog leapt into the heart of Piccadilly Circus this morning.
Known and loved by Harry Potter fans for having a habit of jumping away before they can be eaten, the mischievous Chocolate Frog appears to have travelled a little further than expected, turning up in Piccadilly Circus ahead of the Oxford Street shop opening.
Piccadilly Circus itself holds a special place in the Harry Potter films, appearing in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 when Harry, Ron and Hermione suddenly find themselves amongst the bright lights and crowds of central London.
Passers-by and morning commuters were surprised to see the runaway Frog, before it hopped back to its rightful home. Fans are invited to experience even more magic from the wizarding world when the new Harry Potter Shop Oxford Street opens its doors on 4 November.
Alongside previously announced features coming to Harry Potter Shop Oxford Street, including the Ukrainian Ironbelly Dragon, The Leaky Cauldron, a full-sized Knight Bus and Oxford Street-exclusive products, fans can now discover even more of what awaits inside the flagship, including new experiences and exclusives:
Hogwarts Bear Ceremony – in a first-of-its-kind experience, fans can take part in a personalised Hogwarts Bear Ceremony and create a unique companion of their own. Guests select the qualities that best represent their bear before a specially designed ceremony reveals its Hogwarts house. The experience includes a house robe, scarf and tie, with the finished bear presented in an exclusive collector’s box alongside a personalised certificate. Visitors can also purchase additional accessories for their bear, including house mascot plushes, a Sorting Hat, Harry glasses and a Hogwarts trunk. Keep your eyes peeled on our website and socials for how to book a slot.
Gringotts Adventure – customers can purchase a specially created Gringotts cheque book and receive a collectable Galleon before following a trail across the shop to find magical stamping locations and complete additional activities. The adventure continues at Harry Potter Shop King’s Cross, where fans can collect a Sickle and add another stamp to their cheque book.
The UK flagship will also introduce a host of Oxford Street exclusives including 500 MinaLima prints, a Diagon Alley wand and Leaky Cauldron collection!
Karl Durrant, Senior Vice President, Retail, Warner Bros. Global Experiences, said: “With the opening of Harry Potter Shop Oxford Street just days away, we wanted to bring a little unexpected magic to the streets of London. Chocolate Frogs have always had a mind of their own, so it feels fitting that one has ‘escaped’ before we’ve even had the chance to open our doors.
The Oxford Street shop has been created to give fans new ways to step into the wizarding world, from extraordinary environments to experiences created especially for this location. We can’t wait for visitors to discover what’s waiting inside from 4 November – assuming we can get everything back where it belongs before then.”
Even more magic awaits on Oxford Street!
Harry Potter Shop Oxford Street officially opens on Wednesday 4 November 2026.
